There are some simple safety tips that can avoid these types of accidents. It seems obvious — don’t drink and drive and don’t speed. Stop and think before you get into a car and start that ignition. How much have you had to drink? The best option is to have a designated driver. Pay attention to how much you have to drink and if you have to even think about whether you are OK to drive, don’t. If you are with a group of friends and you don’t think the person should be driving, take their keys. Your life and the lives of others are in their hands.

It is also important to keep an eye on your speed, especially on curves or other dangerous road conditions. Follow the speed limit and only go as fast as the conditions dictate. If it’s dark or rainy or there are any other factors, you probably want to go slower than the speed limit.
