A pedestrian hit by a truck Saturday evening in East Naples died at the scene of the crash. The pedestrian had been drinking and the driver of the truck was driving with an expired license, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It’s not known why the 45-year-old man was walking east in the eastbound lane of U.S. 41. He had been drinking, according to reports. Perhaps he was trying to be safe by walking home rather than driving. The accident is still under investigation.
